Every year, on 28 April, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated. This day highlights the shared responsibility for creating safe and healthy working conditions for all workers around the world.
The theme chosen for 2024 by the International Labour Organization is primarily aimed at exploring the impact of climate change on the safety and health of workers.
According to the joint letter of ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ and the Trade Union of Railway and Transport Builders of Ukraine, a set of measures was taken in the structural units from 22 to 26 April during the Occupational Safety and Health Week. In particular, surveys and targeted inspections were carried out to assess the state of labour protection, occupational health and safety, with special attention paid to equipping production workshops and premises with proper ventilation, air conditioning and heating systems. The need to bring workplaces in line with legal requirements was emphasised.
Let’s honour the memory of employees who died in workplace accidents.
‘Ukraine, being in a state of war, has faced additional challenges in the labour sector. The war has become a significant factor that changes the climate in the workplace and increases the risk of industrial accidents and hazards. Therefore, compliance with labour safety requirements is an extremely important task facing all businesses and organisations.’ – the State Labour Service of Ukraine said in an appeal to employees and employers.
And it was noted, let this World Day for Safety and Health at Work become a point of reference for strengthening efforts to fulfil our common mission of making workplaces safe for everyone.
