The Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Construction Workers of Ukraine supports the appeal of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ Gebhard HAFER to the companies – Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC, American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine – to stop blocking the current request of JSC ‘Ukrainian Railways’ on indexation of freight tariffs!
The trade union’s position is that indexation of cargo tariffs is now critically important.
For 2 years in a row, Ukrzaliznytsia has not been able to index cargo transportation tariffs, which contradicts the general principles of tariff setting in the public sector. This has already resulted in lower salaries for railway workers compared to other industries and threatens to retain qualified employees.
The trade union will send appropriate appeals to the companies’ representative offices in Ukraine.
