At a time when the enemy is intensifying its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the Trade Union of Railway and Transport Builders of Ukraine continues to cooperate with the NGO Ukraine2power to strengthen energy security: On 30 January 2024, Oleksiy Semerun’, Chairman of the Union, and Viktor Kolesnyk, Director of Ukraine2power, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to provide railway units, including medical units, with mobile power supply systems.

The trade union and Ukraine2power have already sent powerful power systems to the branches of the Centre for Track Construction and Repair and the Healthcare Centre.

Four of them will be used for efficient emergency repair work at railway facilities in the frontline areas. Seven will provide uninterrupted power supply to intensive care and operating departments of Ukrzaliznytsia hospitals. We will tell you about their work in future publications.

‘Thanks to our joint work, railway workers in regions where there are significant risks of emergency shutdowns will be less dependent on interruptions. This is especially true where people’s lives and health depend on electricity,’ said Viktor Kolesnik.

‘We have seen that these systems really help to protect the energy security of important facilities, ensure emergency operations, and save lives,’ confirmed Oleksiy Semerun’.

Konstantin Gonchar and Vitaly Kalyuzhny, heads of the Central Healthcare Centre branches, stressed that such assistance is extremely relevant and in demand, and noted the role of the trade union in this area.

The Memorandum builds on the successful experience of last year’s cooperation between the trade union and Ukraine2power: since then, three power systems have been successfully operating at the CBRC branch, and an ‘energy security island’ has been created at Kharkiv railway hospitals to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the most critical departments.
