Ukrainian manufacturers of special footwear sent 20 samples of new and modern products (winter and summer) to railway workers for experimental wear free of charge (the samples are shown in the photo).
The Department of Traffic Safety, Labour Protection and Environmental Safety of Ukrzaliznytsia has handed over work boots to some employees of the Centre for Track Construction and Repair branch. By the end of this month, the department said, employees will provide feedback on comfort and other wearing criteria, and by the end of the year – on wear and tear.
The results will be analysed by a permanent working group established pursuant to the order of Ukrzaliznytsia dated 26.10.2022 No. 258 ‘On the establishment of a working group to review the existing ones in Ukrzaliznytsia and develop new technical and quality characteristics of workwear, footwear and personal protective equipment’ (the work was continued this year – order of Ukrzaliznytsia dated 23.02.2024 No. 060), and appropriate decisions will be made.
Together with the management of Ukrzaliznytsia, we are working to raise the standards and requirements for personal protective equipment, and accordingly, to ensure the comfort and proper protection of employees, their optimal well-being and safety while performing their professional duties, as well as to create a unified corporate style. Both workwear and footwear must meet the established technical requirements and quality characteristics, and be manufactured using modern technological solutions, which will, among other things, increase the time of use of personal protective equipment – the department noted.
The Trade Union of Railway and Transport Builders of Ukraine supports the idea of improving the quality of workwear and footwear for employees and making them more modern. Therefore, we will keep you informed of important changes in this area.
BY THE WAY
Rail transport is one of those modes of transport in which production processes are carried out in conditions of increased danger.
Employees of ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ are provided with personal protective equipment in accordance with NPAP 60.1-3.31-17 ‘Norms of free provision of special clothing, special footwear and other personal protective equipment to railway transport employees’.
Since it is dangerous to hold exhibitions of winter and summer workwear and footwear under martial law, the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia decided to organise meetings with national manufacturers of workwear and fabrics, as well as footwear. Last year, such meetings were held: for workwear – on 12 December 2023, and for footwear – on 14 December 2023. In addition to manufacturers, the meeting was also attended by specialists from the relevant structural units of the management of Ukrzaliznytsia and representatives of the Trade Union of Railway and Transport Builders of Ukraine.
