Simon Cassidi, one of the representatives of the international organisations Global Ukraine Rail Task Force and Rail Partners, recently paid a friendly visit to Ukraine, where he met with the leadership of the Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Construction of Ukraine. Simon has extensive experience of working in the UK rail industry, and later became the Mayor of Liskeard in the south-west of England.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Simon has been actively volunteering around the world to help our country. He also supported Ukrainian railway workers. So we had the opportunity to personally thank our partners for the help they have already provided in the form of food packages and household appliances for the shelters where Ukrainian railway workers have taken refuge.
One of the important topics of the meeting was how else global transport operators and organisations can support Ukraine and, in particular, Ukrainian railway workers working in dangerous areas. This primarily concerns protective equipment, such as bulletproof vests, Kevlar helmets and goggles.
The trade union is currently in active negotiations in this area. We will inform you about the results.
Thank you, Simon, for your understanding and support of Ukraine! Thank you for your faith in Victory, Truth and Justice, for which we fight every day.
