The functional clothing sent by the Swedish railway company SJ AB to Ukrainian railway workers has already been delivered to its intended recipients: employees of Ukrzaliznytsia branches and regional branches from the frontline and de-occupied territories, those who work outdoors and eliminate the effects of shelling or who are in difficult life circumstances, internally displaced persons, etc.
This aid brought together many organisations and people: the clothes arrived in Ukraine thanks to the cooperation of the Trade Union Council with the Help Ukraine.centre charity, the American HUCUS Foundation and the Food Protection Centre, and the heads of trade unions ensured that they were sent to the field and distributed to the unionists.
Earlier, we told you how this aid was handed over to the union members by the railway trade unions of the Liman, Prydniprovska and Pivdenna Railways.
And in February, more than a thousand items of clothing – insulated and fleece jackets, cardigans, polo shirts – were given to employees of the Vokzalnaya Kompaniya branch. A little earlier, more than 900 units were given to employees of the Passenger Company, and more than 200 to departmental security personnel.
‘This is a real gesture of solidarity,’ said Vadim Kuksa, chairman of the united trade union organisation Passenger Company, ’We are grateful to everyone who helped us send clothes to our union members in the cities that suffer daily from shelling – Kharkiv and Mykolaiv.’
‘We made kits out of various items of clothing, which we provided to our union members in January. Some were given out in Znamenka, in particular to our mobilised colleague, and the rest were sent to Kherson, mainly to employees with whom labour relations were temporarily terminated or who are on downtime,’ said Valeriy Kucher, chairman of the united trade union organisation of the Departmental Paramilitary Guard branch and head of the primary unit of the Znamenka paramilitary guard detachment.
‘We are grateful for your support and humanitarian aid. It’s not just a matter of things: by providing assistance in such a difficult time, you give us hope that together we will overcome any adversity,’ said Svetlana Mikhailovskaya, head of the trade union organisation at Kyiv-Passenger station of the Vokzalnaya Kompaniya branch.
